The History of Christian Louboutin’s
By Tamzin Truter
Few of us might recognise his face, but Christian Louboutin shoes are among the most recognized in the world – thanks to their signature red soles. And isn’t it wonderful how those daring soles really do make the shoes pop?
On November 12 1991, Christian Louboutin opened his first shoe boutique in Paris. It is said that the signature red sole was born 1992, when the prototype of a shoe he designed came in, but seemed to be lacking something. Upon spotting his assistant painting her nails with red nail polish, Louboutin got the idea to change the prototype’s black sole to red. The shoe suddenly came back to life and Louboutin fell in love with this daring design detail. Red became a standard trademark on all Christian Louboutin soles – regardless of the shoe colour.
When it comes to Christian Louboutin shoes, there is no need for obvious logos. The red sole we all know and love says it all!
Pure beauty! Especially love the red sole – makes such a statement!
