The Power and the Glory

By Sharon Warr

If you are looking for a really good coffee experience, pop in to The Power and the Glory at the corner of Kloof Nek and Burnside Road in Cape Town. They serve Deluxe coffee brewed to perfection in a vibey atmosphere. Loved the Le Creuset cups! The hustle and bustle of the intersection gives an almost “pavement cafe” ambience to the place. Wide open windows with bar seating add to the feeling of being in touch with the street. The decor has a vintage spin with lovely old style pot plants and bird cages dotted around. The adjacent businesses all lend character to the area too. There was even a beautiful dog outside the beauty salon across the way, who lended character to the sidewalk.

We didn’t eat but what we saw being served to other patrons looked delicious. Will definitely try the breakfast next time. There were lots of trendy people enjoying coffee or one of the many unique beers on offer while we were there. Others were working on laptops (unfortunately no wi-fi available though), reading or just enjoying the vibe. No feeling of being rushed in other words.
